The Dairy Workers' Training Program was designed to help Extension agents teach Spanish-speaking dairy workers proper milking procedures and milk quality management on Wisconsin dairy farms.
Module IV: Herdsmanship Skills is designed to accompany specific training by a herd veterinarian and to help workers gain profiency in caring for fresh and sick cows. The CD contains both English and Spanish versions of the program in two sections — calving assistance and managing fresh cows:
- Teaching outline, speaker notes, instructions
- Self-playing PowerPoint with voice-over (English and Spanish)
- Handouts, fact sheets, additional resources, certificates of completion, evaluation forms
Also included is the Fresh Cow Exam DVD (A3839-DVD), which features Dr. Sheila McGuirk, UW–Madison School of Veterinary Medicine, with a step-by-step approach to conducting examinations of cos in the fresh pen. This 20-minute program is provided in both English and Spanish.
Note: This DVD will not play in a CD-ROM drive or in DVD players outside of North America.
