Description

Author(s): Mark Renz

Based on research and field observations, this new publication highlights the effectiveness of 32 herbicides on 32 different invasive plants commonly found in fields enrolled in the Conservation Reserve Program (CRP) in Wisconsin, all in a sturdy fold-out poster form for easy reference (2 pages).

Plants listed include: burdock, Canada goldenrod, Chinese lespedeza, common tansy, crown vetch, curly dock, dames rocket, field bindweed, garlic mustard, giant hogweed, giant ragweed, hawkweeds, hill mustard, Japanese hedge parsley, Japanese knotweed, knapweeds, multiflora rose, phragmites, poison hemlock, purple loosestrife, Queen Anne’s lace, reed canary grass, spurge (leafy and cypress), sweet clover (white and yellow), teasel (cutleaf and common), thistle (bull, Canada, marsh, musk, and plumeless), wild chervil, and wild parsnip.

Note: This chart opens to a full 11 x 17 size. If your printer accommodates 11 x 17 paper, you can print the chart full size by changing the settings under 'page set-up' to 'tabloid.' Otherwise, the chart will shrink to fit on letter paper, which is somewhat difficult to read. We will be posting a more easily printable version soon.

Herbicide Effectiveness on Invasive Plants of WI
An excellent easy-to-read chart that can be laminated and carried in the field. It will be particularly valuable to those of us that do not keep up with yearly changes and the proliferation of brand names, especially for those chemical formulations whose patents have expired. This chart allows the user the option of looking up an active ingredient instead of brand name to gauge effectiveness. We've needed to have something like this for some time.
Great job, Mark!
